What is the cheapest way to travel to Australia and New Zealand?

July 6, 2009 - 4:52 am 8 Comments

I traveled to Australia from NYC back in 2002, and a round trip ticket was over $1500. Is there a cheaper way to get to Australia or New Zealand (from the US) ? I alway hear rumors of dirt cheap prices to get there, but have never seen anything
for less than $1000
yeah, $1500 seems to be the going rate
Plus with the US dollar becoming as worthless as the Peso, it will be twice as expensive for Americans to go to OZ

Package deals from a travel agent or places like expedia!! Honestly you never really save on airfare it is the hotel and whatnots that make it cheaper then getting all separate!!

Cape Reinga, Northland, New Zealand

July 6, 2009 - 12:50 am 9 Comments

Today in the driving rain Rochelle and I visited the Cape Reinga Lighthouse.

Cape Reinga is located at the northern most point in New Zealand. Today it was raining and the wind was blowing but you could still see where the Tasman and the Pacific Ocean meet.

The lighthouse was fully automated in 1987 and the lighthouse keepers withdrawn. It’s not monitored remotely from a tracking station in Wellington.

“Ok so you have just been to Cape Reinga how does it feel?”

“Wet”

“Other than very very wet, feeling good?”

“Yip”

“Awesome”

Visitors from all around the world walk the path to the light house to experience the views that are defiantly worth the long drive.

Even know the weather didn’t play its part today Rochelle and I really enjoyed the views and will defiantly return when the weather is better.

Do I need a passport to travel to New Zealand? Please read details?

June 30, 2009 - 10:58 am 6 Comments

I live in Australia, and I am planning to go to New Zealand for a holiday. Do I require an Australian passport to go there?
Please add link or source of information.

I moved to New Zealand a year ago, so i went through all of this myself! :)

Yes you’ll need a passport. You don’t need a Visa to live/holiday/work/study here though. You can also drive on an Australian licence etc.

You can apply for your passport at most Australia Post Stores. Just get a form, fill it out, get the relevant paperwork (ie. Birth Certificate) and a passport sized photo, and then send it all in with your payment! :)

Check out this website for more info.

How can I easily get insured to travel to USA for two months from New Zealand?

June 26, 2009 - 8:08 pm 6 Comments

Im going on a road trip to the USA from New Zealand, and my mum wants me to get insurance but don't want to be ripped off by the travel agents insurance. Any good easy companies to deal with?

Are you a Southern Cross member.

I have had health insurance with Southern Cross and get a discount with Southern Cross Travel. I have found on a few occasions that Southern Cross travel was very good both because their policy was easy to understand and cheap.

Insurance for travel to the US *is* more expensive than say just to Australia. But it's worth checking a few different places.

You can get Southern Cross Travel Insurance even if you are not a member.
