Cape Reinga, Northland, New Zealand

July 6, 2009 - 12:50 am 9 Comments

Today in the driving rain Rochelle and I visited the Cape Reinga Lighthouse.

Cape Reinga is located at the northern most point in New Zealand. Today it was raining and the wind was blowing but you could still see where the Tasman and the Pacific Ocean meet.

The lighthouse was fully automated in 1987 and the lighthouse keepers withdrawn. It’s not monitored remotely from a tracking station in Wellington.

“Ok so you have just been to Cape Reinga how does it feel?”

“Wet”

“Other than very very wet, feeling good?”

“Yip”

“Awesome”

Visitors from all around the world walk the path to the light house to experience the views that are defiantly worth the long drive.

Even know the weather didn’t play its part today Rochelle and I really enjoyed the views and will defiantly return when the weather is better.

July 4, 2009 - 12:49 am 7 Comments

Immerse yourself in the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges region, an hour’s drive east of Melbourne, where tall trees and ancient mountain ranges meet vineyards and world class wineries.

The Yarra Valley is recognised as one of the world’s great wine growing regions. Numerous wineries offer cellar door tastings and sales. They also have restaurants serving gourmet food and fine local produce accompanied by their wine. The Yarra Valley has some of the most beautiful countryside in Victoria. Rolling hills strung with vines around Healesville and Yarra Glen meet towering trees, green valleys and pristine rivers around Marysville and Warburton.

For a different view of the countryside, take to the skies in a hot-air balloon before gently descending into a vineyard to enjoy a breakfast of local produce and sparkling wine.

You can also get close to Australian wildlife at Healesville Sanctuary, home to dingoes, kangaroos, wombats and the elusive platypus.

Parks, gardens, native fern forests and nature trails define the Dandenong Ranges. Climb aboard Australia’s oldest steam train, Puffing Billy, and travel through thick forests and lush fern gullies. Dotted throughout the Dandenong Ranges are quaint villages such as Olinda, Gembrook, Belgrave, Emerald and Sassafras, home to some of Victoria’s best gardens, and famous for craft shops and Devonshire teas.

Pointers on Choosing Hotel Furniture

July 3, 2009 - 9:48 am No Comments

You should choose hotel furniture only after extensive thought and consideration. It is only if the hotel furniture matches the needs of the customer base and demography of the region that the hotel be successful.

There is a wide range of hotel furniture for you to choose your hotel furniture from which ranges from traditional to modern furniture. However, you have to keep your budget in mind while choosing the right furniture for your hotel. So set your budget and then make your choice to avoid wasting your time and spending too much of money on the furniture.

Choose the furniture based on where you intend to use it.Different furniture is used for restaurants, the lobby and for the bedrooms. So match the properties of the furniture to the part of the hotel it will be placed and used in.

The location of the hotel is another point you have to bear in mind while choosing your hotel furniture. There is no point in having ultra modern furniture in traditional and small hotels.Hotel furniture should be bought based on the weather in your locality. The temperature and weather conditions of the hotels location should not be conducive to the wear and tear of the hotel furniture.

Never compromise on the quality of your hotel furniture for its price, as cheap furniture breaks quickly. If you buy cheap furniture, you may end up replacing your furniture every six months, which can turn out to be rather expensive to you in the long run.

If you find it difficult to decide on the type of hotel furniture to buy for your hotel despite all these tips, you can always have a designer do everything for you.Though you may have to pay for their services, you find that the end results and total expenditure is always a better option for you.

Choosing a Madrid Hotel near Puerta del Sol

July 3, 2009 - 9:48 am No Comments

As Spain’s largest city, with a population of some 3 million and the country’s capital, Madrid is a lively and interesting place to visit for travellers from all over the world. Like most European capitals, Madrid has lots of things for the tourist to do and see; many interesting tourist sights, world-famous museums and galleries, some great restaurants, cafés and bars, and the city is also host to many of the country’s main music, cultural and business events.

The Madrilenian people are also well known for of partying, and there are many areas, mainly scattered around the centre of the city, which come to life at night time, such as the districts of Huertas, Tribunal, Moncloa Bilbao, and Alonso Martinez. Also the city’s main gay ‘ghetto’, Chueca, has become a popular hot spot for a mixed, hedonistic crowd whose main purpose is to enjoy themselves until the early hours of the morning. We should mention that Madrid’s nightlife starts late. Often, and even more so on the weekends, it will be hard to find a restaurant open before 10.00pm!

As soon as you have decided that you would like to visit the city, you should start looking for your ideal accommodation from the wide selection of hotels in Madrid. Location is often an important factor when selecting your hotel. If you would like to be right in the heart of the city’s hustle and bustle and with good access to the sights and nightlife, then we would recommend Puerta del Sol (English: Gate of the Sun). The area has great connection to the rest of the city, and many sights can be reached on foot as well as by public transport. The square at Puerta del Sol is also where you will find a statue of the city’s most famous symbol, the Bear and Madroño Tree, as well as many other monuments and government buildings.

If you are looking for a Puerta del Sol hotels in Madrid, then please bear the following in mind:

Hotel Petit Palace Tres Cruces provides 3 star accommodation right in the heart of the city. Spread over four floors (with lift/elevator) of a modern building, guest rooms are well equipped with safety deposit box, private bathroom, air conditioning and Wi-Fi internet connection.
